So, read some hackernews today, and found this beautiful explanation of open-social and the AT protocol and what all this federated thing means. Also, a deeper dive into the AT protocol.

טוב, זה משהו שהייתי חייב לנסות כדי לראות איך העניין הזה עובד. למי שזה מעניין אותו, ניתן לקרוא על כיוון הצגת טקסט באתר הזה. בקיצור נמרץ, ניתן להוסיף לכל אלמנט תג הקובע כיוון, כאשר יש שלוש אופציות לתג: ימין, שמאל ואוטומטי. מה שמעניין היא האופציה השלישית, מכיוון שאז ניתן לתת לדפדפנים לקבוע בעצמם את כיוון ההצגה בתוך האלמנט.

# Windows 11 message boxes are F&#%@D UP

So yeah, let’s talk about the GUI of the win11 installer, specifically, the message boxes buttons. Windows, to this day, uses the Yes and No buttons on almost every message box, presumably to enforce you to read the message in order to know what your pick will be.

This is the worst UI choice ever!

No one has time or will to read the boring text. Just give me directions on the button itself. If you happen to be a GUI designer at micr0s0ft, here are some possible examples to get you started:

Don't delete / Delete All

Go back / Register me

Cancel printing / Print now

I don't accept and never will / I accept all your terms for eternity

I won't sign, have to consult my lawyer / Sign me up for everything

and so forth…

# Installing windows 11 is F&@%#D UP

I had to install win11 on a new computer for a friend. Nothing too complicated, it’s the windows 11 that came with the computer. You open it up for the first time and the process begins.

First, it tries to pull updates from somewhere. This thing alone took too much time that I had to leave and come back later to continue. Why? Just go on with the installation and pull updates later that day/week..

Instead of 10 minutes, this thing took few hours, most of it is downloading stuff or trying to cancel the micr0s0ft phishing attempts by answering NO to all the ad/email/news/apps/stuff that is shoved down your throat. WTF?!
